  1. The "There’s a place for you in engineering!” is an integral part of campaign to promote the engineering profession organized by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec as part of its 90th anniversary celebrations. This contest, which is reserved for students from 12 to 18 years old who attend an educational institution (private or public) in Québec, offers an opportunity to vote for their favourite achievement. These engineering achievements are presented and explained in the on-line virtual museum presented by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec at www.placepourtoi.ca.
    By voting for their favourite achievement, students automatically become eligible for the draw for 10 (ten) Acer-Aspire One AOD250-1832 mini laptop computers. Participants must complete the form on line.
  2. The contest is accessible solely by Internet, from when the site goes live in January 2010 until May 31, 2010.
  3. Deadline for entering the contest: May 31, 2010 at 11:59 pm.

  6. Exact time, date and place when the prize winners will be chosen:
    The random draw will take place on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the offices of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, 1100 De La Gauchetière West, Suite 350, in Montréal, H3B 2S2. This random draw will be conducted by the OIQ IT Department. The names of the winners will be officially announced during the speech by the President of the OIQ during the Montreal Eureka Festival, to take place au from June 11 to 13, 2010 on the lawn located opposite the Montreal Sciences Centre (King Edward Pier, Old Port, Montréal). The speech announcing the winners will be given on Saturday, June 12, at 7:45 p.m. at the Montreal Science Centre.
  7. Media used to notify the prize winners:
    The winners’ names will be posted on the OIQ Internet site after June 14, 2010, and mentioned in PLAN (July-August 2010 issue) and the July 2010 issue of the OIQ electronic newsletter.
  8. Delivery of the prizes to the winners:
    The prizes will be sent by mail. The random draw takes place on June 8 and the prizes will be mailed to the winners within the four weeks following that date.
  9. Nature of the test that a winner must take to win the prize:
    To commemorate its 90th anniversary, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec has established an honour roll of the main achievements of engineering, featuring one achievement per decade (http://www.placepourtoi.ca). The participants will be invited to select their favourite achievement after becoming familiar with the following presentations:
    1. 1920: construction of the Île Maligne hydroelectric power station
    2. 1930: the first television in Canada
    3. 1940: engineering and the war efforts
    4. 1950: the Saint Lawrence Seaway
    5. 1960: the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel
    6. 1970: the James Bay project
    7. 1980: deployment of optical fibre in Québec
    8. 1990: Global Express business jet
    9. 2000: the International Space Station arm
    10. 2010: bionic human being and biomedical technologies

    The participants will then be automatically eligible for the random draw for one of ten (10) A10 Acer-Aspire One AOD250-1832 mini laptop computers.

      • OIQ media (print and electronic);
      • Secondary school and CEGEP media;
      • Media addressing guidance counsellors, science teachers, etc.;
      • Media addressing the target audience (12 to 18 years old): Les Débrouillards, Vrak TV, etc.;
      • Distribution of promotional cards at career days at secondary schools and CEGEPs;
      • Special page on Facebook – OIQ Student Section and the “There is a place of you” page with a link to the Science Centre for participants old enough to be allowed access to Facebook;
      • In the programs of engineering competitions aimed at the target audience of 12 to 18 year olds (Défi génie inventif, Expos-sciences Bell, Les filles et les sciences: un duo électrisant !, Science, on tourne !);
      • Mention on the site of the Montreal Science Centre (http://www.centredessciencesdemontreal.com/index.html);
      • Panels will be installed at the Montreal Science Centre. The ten (10) achievements will be presented to the public. The target audience of 12 to 18 year olds attending a school (public or private) in Québec will find all the information there about these achievements and will be invited to vote for their favourite at www.placepourtoi.ca.
  11. Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the board only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement
  12. A person for whom a publicity contest is carried on, his employee, representative or mandatary, a member of the jury and the persons with whom they are domiciled may not enter the contest.
