Women Ambassadors of the Profession Program

Pancanadienne initiative « 30 en 30 »

The OIQ wants to promote inclusion and diversity within Quebec engineering so that the profession reflects the Quebec of today. To support this diversity, the OIQ has joined Engineers Canada's nation-wide "30 by 30" initiative. It aims to ensure that a minimum of 30% of new engineers are women in 2030. In Quebec, this is ambitious: girls currently represent 18% of new engineers who join the profession. To help increase the representation of women within the engineering field, the OIQ is establishing its Women Ambassadors program.

WOMEN AMBASSADORS

Your role as an Ambassador will be to meet with girls in high school and CEGEP to inspire them to consider engineering as a career choice. During the class visits, the Ambassadors will present fun and interactive learning situations to demystify science and engineering while staying attuned to the girls’ interests.

Your task: to inspire young women to consider engineering as a career choice!

SUPPORT

We’ll provide you with the resources you need, including PowerPoint presentations, a school visit guide, activities and exercises, promotional items to give to young people, a website for young people (Placeforyou.ca) and a training course for ambassadors.

INVOLVEMENT

Your commitment may vary depending on the time you have to give. Ideally, we aim for two visits to two schools in the next year. The visits take place during the day in a school in your region. In addition, we hope you will spread the good news to your network of contacts and invite your female engineering colleagues to participate in the program.

You are the first-line ambassadors of your profession and we need you!
